Food Plots winter peas

I have never planted any winter peas but was thinking of trying some this year. Has anyone had any luck out of these? My plots always have clover and alfalfa, would the seed beds be ok to mix in the peas?

Quit planting them years ago cause I believe it's not high on a deer list.

Yes you can and yes the deer do like them. When I planted them the deer almost zeroed in on them first and I couldn't keep the turkeys out. Maybe it depends on where you are but I liked them in my plots.

I planted the Whitetail Institute Winter Peas 2 years ago and they are the only food plot item I've ever had eaten down to the ground and killed by deer. They ate them down to the dirt right away and ruined my plot. Based on that obvious deer preference for the peas, I'm planning on trying a larger spot this Fall to see if I can get ahead of the deer. Am thinking of spraying some of the deer repellent all over the area to see if it will discourage them long enough to get some growth before they start eating.

Turkeys pretty well killed my pea plots each time I planted them. Used a mix of 3 types of peas, had whistler, secada and some other type. Got a decent stand with them one year with using a yote decoy at the plot edge.

Now THERE'S an idea for giving a food plot a chance to get started.......thanks for the idea.
