I am in the market for a new shotgun, that will be good for doves to turkeys. I have narrowed it down to the winchester sx3 or the stoger m3500. I would like to know the pros an cons of each from people with experience with em.

I am a huge fan of the SX3. Mine is a 3.5", 26" barrels. Plan is to use it for the same things you are. The only thing I wish it had was a place for mounting an optic on the receiver (i.e. a red dot for turkey hunting). Winchester makes a 24" barrel with a cantilevered mount for this purpose, but it is pricey (> $400).

I have shot the SX3 12 and 20 gauge since they came out. I have at least 15-18 cases of shells through my 12 gauge and have never had one single problem with it. I generally shoot 3" shells but when goose hunting I will run 3 1/2" through it and cycles great too. It is picky on light loads for the dove field, wants a 2 3/4" shell with a little weight to it. I have the 20 gauge field model and it shoots like a dream too. The SX3 is a workhorse of a shotgun, its a gas gun so just remember to strip it down and clean that piston after a good day in the blind. If you have any questions let me know..

Thanks
