Winchester model 70

Hey all! What is your take on choosing between about a 15 year old Winchester model 70 in the rem 7mm mag and having money left over for a $250-$300 scope. Or a brand new TC Venture or other new gun with less money left over for a scope. I know nothing about rifles or the model 70, but hear they are great guns. Thanks guys!

I don't think you could go wrong with either. You can get good scopes under 200$. Nikon prostaff would be a good choice and they are priced around 150$

Always go with good glass. I would take a Model 70 over a T/C any day, so that would be a win win for me.

I know nothing about the TC but love my model 70's. Like Kimberman said having more money for better glass is a plus.

I'd choose the Model 70 and good glass. No sense in having a $500 gun with a $50 scope on it.

They are right,my model 70 has nikon monarch on it ,great setup.

Knowing that M70 will now be assembled in Portugal come 2013, I would definitely go with the M70. It's a classic that unfortunately wont be made in the states much longer

The model 70 CRF action is the best action ever made IMO.
