Winchester model 70 in .243wssm

This is one weapon that I am not familiar with at all. I have a buddy wanting to trade it to me and it includes 5 boxes of ammo.
He did say ammo was pricey for it.
What are y'all's thoughts or experiences with this round?
I'm not sure I've ever seen one for sale so no idea what it's worth. Just curious and knew where to ask!

I had one sometime ago. Very accurate round. Killed a couple of deer with it. If you reload it won't matter. But new rounds are pricey if you can find them. I think the barrels shoot out fairly quickly? Seems like.

Guy at work wanted it more than I did. Sold it to him. He already had all the other WSSM chambered rifles.

You need to reload imo. They died out quickly but I liked them. Really just didn't offer much over other more popular offerings at the time. I hate that I got rid of my 243 and 25 wssm.

Have a M70 w/factory synthetic stock w/shortened lop & Leupold 4-12x my 7 year old great grandson shoots. Rifles were some of last rifles w/Winchester trademark produced in US. They are what Winchester called a controlled push feed short action, light contour barrel and pre 64 model 70 triggers. This one shoots very well, dependable rifle. I would buy another if practical. BUT, you best plan to reload and even brass is scarce though can be reformed from 223 wssm and/or 25 wssm. My $.02 worth!
