What are you Williamson hunters seeing as far as rut activity. It's been on and off here, but mostly seen does with fawns and occasional cruising young buck. Did I miss it or is it still picking up?

Hey Cat, I hunt Northern and Southern Maury county and have yet to see chasing of any kind. I have seen bucks trailing does by 40-50yds with the biggest being a 2.5 yr old 8. Have had some smaller bucks come in to light grunting as well, but nothing mature. I'm hoping the rut hasn't quite hit yet and maybe in the next week or so. I'm sure this weather and wind has them as confused as me...

Good Luck!

I think its here but some of the chasing might be occurring at night. I hunted Maury this weekend and killed a buck locked down hardcore with a doe. On my police scanner there have been a handful of accidents involving deer in Williamson County in the past couple weeks. Look for road kill while driving in the county. Thats always a good indicator.

I got a pic of my buck walk by my stand at 11 pm last night. Just a straight standing/walking pic, not running or with his nose down. Cruising I guess? I hope he comes out in the daylight.

talked to a buddy of mine who has some really good properties in Williamson who has hunted every day for the last 11 days. seen 1 good buck, the rest were young. not seeing much chasing.

Seen a 2 1/2 year old maybe 3 1/2 year old 8 pt chasing/messing with a doe in the field right before trinity Elementary this morning at 7:30.

I come in from M'boro so for you that would on the left just past Trinity Elementary just before the bridge George Jones hit when he got his DUI.

I hunt Leipers Fork and have not seen any chasing at all. Scrapes are fresh, a few new rubs. Seen one good buck crusing, really just walking, early in a.m. and that is it. My total deer sightings are way down this year also. I just dont think its started yet or like UTGrad said its happening at night??

Not in Williamson but close and it has been a WEIRD nov. the first week of Nov. was great and since than its been all 2.5 and 3.5 yr old bucks in daylight. Lots of chasing and looking just the 4.5+ haven't been on there feet since the day after muzzle opened. I think the mature deer are prob locked down with a doe and most activity is occurring at night with the temps and full moon... The first week of Nov there were 3 bucks 4.5+ seen or got pics and 0 after the opening morning of muzzle...

HH that is exactly what we are seeing in Marshall County along Williamson line. Lots of early chasing by young ones and we thought it was about to break loose but the big boys haven't come out to play just yet. Most of the chasing stopped over the last 10 days. Hope the mature bucks make an appearance this weekend and next week. With the temps forecasted to get low next week it will be a waiting game even if they are locked down. That doe's gotta eat when it's cold!

I had to take my Can Am in to the dealer today and went to check cameras before I took it. I saw my first real chase while sitting in the bike scrolling through a card I just pulled. One real good buck chasing with three others in tow. I went further back on the property to move two cameras and on my way out I noticed the scrape that I had just been at was worked over while I was gone. Then my neighbor texted me that he shot a decent deer chasing a doe hard late in the afternoon. So I think they just now are breaking loose in North Williamson.

Great report! Thanks

you certainly didn't miss it. just hadn't really started yet. week after thanksgiving

Saw my first mature buck with a doe yesterday evening in Leipers Fork area. 4 bucks total the one is 5.5 and wasnt leaving her or allowing the others any closer than 20 yards.

I too hunt out past Leipers and my son killed a nice spike mz opener (his 1st with his new mz). Only deer seen was the one he killed and one other small spike just cruising and grazing. No real signs of the rut that day. That's been almost 2 weeks ago, so surely it's getting ready to crank up pretty good.

This morning I saw a buck on a property I can't hunt roaming all over a big field with his nose down most of the time. He sure was lookin for one. Saw a couple doe in that field too but not sure if he actually got onto one and chased it. But he sure was on the move and frisky. Too far to get a good look at antlers but best I can tell he was decent and I would guess possibly a 3.5 year old, give or take. Talked to a fishing buddy who has seen several bucks out in the open in the past week or so, biggest was yesterday evening a 9 or 10 pt he said with a swollen neck ran right up to him and then ran into a wood line and then a doe came out after that.

I'd say it's picking up now

I had a job there recently and wondered if deer used the patch of woods running thru the area. Cool to know now

There are deer almost every day around there, usually just does. There some nice bucks there though. Watched a big 8pt last week in the grass between Verizon lot and the railroad tracks

they love the woods between Verizon and the golf course and apartments.

During my travels to Fairview via 96 from Franklin this week Ive seen 6 different bucks, all of which have been with or chasing a doe, one super nice one horned buck yesterday at Gentrys farm was really getting with it, running a doe down! Also this week, a deer I know very well was seen breeding a doe on the side of the road.

In my opinion the rut is close to finished in Williamson County. I have hunted many days this season and saw the majority of mature bucks on their feet during the first few weeks of November during that cold snap. I'm not saying it is over by any means but Lord that week of muzzy woulda been nice. I'd spend the next 7 days in the woods if u hunt williamson co. JMO

10.20 am I just saw a doe getting chased hard by a train of 4 bucks going one way and then coming back the other way in the field behind my house. They were at a full run.

Got a bunch of pics this week of chasing, mature deer and saw some dandies that were killed. All were cruising or chasing. This is mostly Williamson near leipers fork. I saw a 4.5 year cruising a field at 3:45 2 days ago. Still seeing does grouped up. It's a strange year. I would not say it is over but you gotta work for it this year.

Saw a buck walking down the shoulder of Moores Ln at 2:00 yesterday. His mouth was open taking in the fluffy kittens stink.
