This winter has really taken its toll on me. I'm ready to get out and enjoy some solitude in the mountains. I always like to take a bunch of pictures while fishing. During long dreary weeks like this has been, I'll look back at them and reflect how much I enjoy being in the out of doors. Here's a couple pictures from a trip I took two tears ago.

This is from a little mountain stream that I love to fish and very rarely do I ever run into any one else fishing up there.

Also don't let the weather get you down. If you have a tailwater close by that you can fish go there. I have been doing pretty good on the local tailwaters here with most of my fish coming from zebra midges. Even last week when we had 3" of snow and high of 22 I was fishing the watauga and caught 7 in 1.5 hours with a size 20 midge. My wife said I was crazy but the water felt pretty warm compared to the air temp.

JN, for the past several years, I've been telling myself that I was going to make it to the NE to fish. I've always wanted to fish the Doe River and Laurel Fork Creek. I'll be there this year.

My favorite time is when the Quill Gordon's are hatching in late January to the middle of February. But, it is very weather dependant fishing and a cold front can completely shut it down. After that, anytime from late May until the hunting season starts.

You can keep them. It's either 5 fish over 7", or 7 fish over 5". You can tell I don't keep a lot, but once you eat a wild trout, you'll never want to eat something that's been fed dog food all its life.
 
The doe and laurel are great for browns. I used to fish the gorge on the doe quite a bit and caught several nice browns there but had too many weird experiences down there from finding meth labs to homeless people to what I call my Bigfoot experience when something started throwing rocks at me. The laurel is nice once you get into the wild trout area you usually don't see many other people fishing. I spend most of my time fishing watagua since it is only about 8 min from the house. If you make it up this way I have small stream that you have a good chance of catching a grand slam on
 
What a great thread!!! Especially when it is freezing in middle Tennessee! Thanks for posting this guys. It has been a great break from Cabin Fever.
 
Mike243, you've got the ruler going the wrong way on that fish. You should have been measuring the girth. What a pig!

No bugs hatching here. :grin:
