Wild plum tree source?

Help Support TNDeer | Tennessee Deer:

I got mine from MDC (Missouri Department of Conservation). I got 25 bare root for 8 bucks. Great trees, nice roots, great deal. They have other trees as well, I just received some hazelnuts I am trying this year. Check them out.

Will do. So far they are doing great, but I really really need some rain.

They came in around 2-4ft. I potted them over last summer then transplanted them to the field this past feb.

Is it faster to order online or through the mail?

I also see no mention of out of state shipping costs

Is there any?

Thank you

One final question:

I ordered some plum but is says I must plant them in a certain Missouri County on the order form?

Or this doesn't mean anything?

One of the best sources for seedlings is the Tennessee Department of Forestry(TDOF)nursery in East Tennessee. They have added new wildlife trees and shrubs for this coming year. I like them because they are reasonably priced, are grown in Tennessee, and are very healthy. The catalog will be available on-line later this year. They have a minimum quantity of 100 seedlings. This year I bought from the Missouri Dept. of Conservation because I was experimenting and only wanted 25 each of 4 types. The seedlings were excellent and I am very satisfied. They do sell to out of state buyers. It is a good idea to experiment with a few trees/shrubs because sometimes the tree/shrub you want just won't grow on your property. I have tried plum and washington hawthorn to no avail twice even though I have sucessfully grown them on other property.

I got 25 trees from Missouri and I hope they do well.

Except for some broken tips, some very nice trees.

I potted mine up through the summer (last year) then planed them this past winter. They grew 2-3 ft over the summer and looked great.
Good luck!
