Thought it was pretty funny.



I was in Wisconsin this week for work and seen groups of geese everywhere standing in fields with around 8" of snow.

But I think I have figured out the issues about the waterfowl staying up north.

We have millennial waterfowl! There just too darn lazy to fly south...

I remember living in North Dakota and always have some ducks and geese around, even when the temps dropped below zero you could always find geese and ducks on the river. They also will rest on the ice out in the middle of a frozen lake. As long as they can get to food they can hang around and since ND doesn't get a lot of snow there is usually food available into the spring. I think our last couple of seasons, have had an abundance of good wintering habitat all up and down the flyway allowing the birds to spread out and not be as concentrated as they are during dryer years.
