Wentto the lease to check a camera that has been over a food plot since Christmas. The camera was there....but it was turned off. The door was unlatched and the SD card was gone. Im not the kind to mess with someones stuff....but if I was gonna steal anything, Id just steal the whole camera. I dont know who did it, but I can promise that they will be caught next time they try!
 
Not thief enought to steal your camera but low down enough to tresspass and get caught and not want you to see them is my guess.
 
The same thing happened to me a couple years back. But I never got a nother pic of the buck I was targeting. Mine came up missing in November though.
 
What morgancounty said . He will avoid the camera next time he trespasses , put it up high in a different tree, maybe you will get lucky .
 
Sounds like the work of someone who didn't want their picture taken rather than a thief. If it were intent of theft, the camera would be gone. Might have been trespassing or just lost and worried they would get charged with trespassing. Some of the mid-west states get a lot of shed poaching this time of year. Shed hunting isn't very popular in TN, but that might have also been the case.

Exactly, they weren't there to steal but didn't want you to know they were trespassing
 
I would jerk the camera. He may go home and think about how much $$ he can get out of it. Same thing happened to me. They stole my sd card then came back after I replaced the card and stole the camera :mad:
 
I'd say you got lucky.. I'd much rather my $8 card be stolen than my $150+ camera....

I always put my cameras up high. A climbing stick or two works good. If the camera is made for it, locking the door and camera with a cable lock helps.
 
Samething happened to us this year on our lease. It was someone that didn't want you to see they were on your land. More than likely its somebody you know or knows you hunt there

$8 card or $150 camera doesn't matter!! It wasn't his no matter the price!!!! I would be pissed too!!!

I agree, I'd be pissed also because someone took something that didn't belong to them and it was mine!!... But I've had cameras stolen before and I would have felt a lot better if I only had to replace the card instead of the whole camera...

I hate a theif more than anything and it's about impossible to prevent it. If they want something bad enough they will get it, even if they have to cut the whole tree down.. I still think the card being stolen is a whole lot better than the whole camera..

Yep...and if the trespassing scum can't easily get to your SDHC card to steal the evidence, they will just destroy your whole setup like they did to mine.

HAD SOMEONE ERASE ALL MY PHOTOS A FEW YEARS AGO. I FIGURED THEY WERE CAMERA SHY. THEY HAD 4,000 ACRES IN THEIR CLUB AND WANTED MY PLACE AS WELL.
 
I had 2 cams stolen a few weeks ago so I started putting them up higher with a climbing stick and that sucks having to fool with that every time you go in to have to check cams and I don't get the pict view as on the ground, but I have to do what I have to do to keep the scum bags from walking off with my stuff..it just pisses me off :-( :-( sorry had to vent !
