Our hunting tradition staying alive all boils down to us getting these kids out from in front of the TV and into the woods. There is WAY more excitement out there if we can just get them involved. I'm taking two on the juvy hunt? One I took two years back and he killed a tom with a 9" beard and 1" spurs. The other has been with me once but hasn't had the chance to pop one yet. Take the time now to schedule a hunt with a kid that may not have someone to take him. Trust me, you might just have more fun than they do ! :D

i would love too, I just dont know of any at the moment that i can take. All the ones i know are to young or to old.

I asked around at work and no takers yet.

Planning on taking my 15yo. step-son. Tried to take him last spring but he was busy with something or wouldn't get out of the bed....he got to go with me one time but the bird just wouldn't cooperate with me...

i would take my own son but he is only 1 year old and i still have not quite figured out how to strap the gun to him so he can hold it. + i think the 3.5's may have a bit much recoil for him lol.

Hey tntrkyhntr. That sounds awsome. If I wasn't taking my own son I would be there. Hope everything is safe and hope everyone learns something out of it. Good Luck!

Man! I would love to do that! If something falls through with my brother going, I would definitely be interested.

I'm a school teacher and several of the boys (and girls) in my class want to talk about turkey hunting more than I do ( 6th graders)

I am taking my 11year old nephew. He got his first gun for Chrismas. My step father and I took him squirrel hunting a couple of time and he is absolutely eat up with it.

I hope we can get a bird or two to work. I just don't know if he can handle the rush of a bird coming in gobbling. But, I am really hoping to find out.

Here they are shooting a couple days after Christmas. This is the rifle barrel, he will be bird hunting with the 20ga. barrel.

P.S. Right where they are standing, yesterday, 3 strutting toms.

i am taking a 14 year old to aedc on the juvy saw a lot of birds there while i was deer hunting so hopefullywe will have some luck it was the same kid that i took on the deer juvy hunt on my property and he shot a deer so maby we will have some good luck and good luck to everybody else.

I am, Luke turns 9 on Friday, here's his 1'st bird, which he killed last year a couple days after turning 8. He missed a bird right after his 7'th birthday. He's shooting a Baikal 20 gauge single shot, loaded with 3" #6 heavy-shot. He's talked about opening weekend since the day deer season closed. He wants to try and call his own bird up this year, so we've been working with the push pull call, gonna see how it goes.
