I ordered a box of .308" 150 gr. the other day. Expensive for sure but, I have never tried them, and just wanted to. I loaded up 10 the other day with 50.0 gr. IMR 4895. Hopefully can shoot a few in day or two.

I've shot thousands. I shoot light for caliber. High shoulder shot. Deer is dead.
53 tsx and 62 grain ttsx are favorites
Started with TSX, then moved to the TTSX, and now using LRX as well.
My elk rifle is a Browning 300wsm and shoots 168g TTSX well with IMR4350.. Pushing a little over 3130 fps
My deer rifle is 6.5prc, shooting 127g LRX with H1000, running about 3036fps

Years ago I bought a box of the 150 TSX hollow points for my 30-30. They only provided fair accuracy so I tried them in 30-40 Krag; again only fair accuracy. Recently I loaded them in 308 with IMR-4895 and got very good accuracy in the BAR with an 18.5 inch barrel.
I have used Barnes X in 45-70 as well; both 250 and 300 grain hollow points. They were very accurate and deadly on deer.
I have used the XPB pistol bullets in 44-40 and 45 Colt to good effect.
Overall, I'm pleased but I do believe they are truly no better than an old standard jacketed soft point that has been around for decades. The tried and true Remington Core-lokt bullet is all one would ever need in the deer woods. The Winchester Power-Point and the Federal Power-shok are good as well and far, far more economical.

Grandson's & I have used them since they first came out. Everything from the original TSX, to the new long-range models. Factory loads & handloads have all worked well, just remember that they like to go fast. .243, 7mm-08, 270 & 30-06 factory have all be good to us. Handloads in 7STW in 140gr TTSX, 7mm-08 in 120 gr TTSX & 280AI in 145 LRX have all proven deadly. The STW was running in excess of 3400 fps. & AI shoots 3/4" at 200 with cheap Hunter powder. The 7-08 is my go to deer rifle, deadly.

Sitting in KY at this very moment with my daughter holding a 6.8spc with a 95gr TTSX on top of some aa2200. As good as it gets
They thrive on speed. Don't expect the same type of consistent bang-flop performance that you get from lead core bullets because they don't exhibit the same type of shock as easily, but they work boringly well. The 150 should be great for deer, but lean on it hard with the velocity, and shoot for shoulders if possible (you won't get as much bloodshot meat due to the lower shock from them)… you WILL still get pass-throughs

If you have any accuracy issues try some varget. We push the 150 in two 308's 44.5 gr, SAAMI oal, Fed 210M, R-P brass, 2720 FPS. Bullet is Accubond, FMJ, Partition, NBT. Under 1 inch in Bolt and near same for SCAR.
