White Clover ???

Know its been talked about on here, but I've been unable to find anything on it...

Have a buddy that wants to plant in couple of weeks...My question is, Can he plant it in the Spring? Can you plant it by its self or do you need to sow other seeds? If so, what needs to planted with the clover to help it get started?

You could do it, but weeds would be the biggest problem, unless you could no till it in .

Might want to sow his white, along with a warm season clover like arrowleaf that might come on fast enough to suspress the weeds, the resow or topseed more white in this fall.

You can but I wouldnt personally. Fall plantings or winter frost seeding is more desireable because the clover has more time to establish a good root system before the inevitable Summer droughts come. If planted right now it wouldnt have much time before the likely hot and dry time comes, unless he has irrigation. Id just plant something else until Fall but thats just me.

I agree with what others have said; sowing right now with high summer temps/lower moisture right around the corner will make it tough to get a good stand.

Regarding weeds, what have you folks used successfully on established clover? I was preparing an old plot to plant chufa a few weeks ago and sprayed gly...within a week it had smoked everything EXCEPT the clover. As a matter of fact, the remaining patches of clover looked as happy as ever!

On the other hand, I sprayed 2 of my Durana plots with Poast+ and looks like I'm gonna have to hit BOTH of them again and am thinking about gly this time. The Poast just didn't cut it; very marginal performance on both grasses and broadleafs.

What do you use?

Your best bet for grass in clover is clethodim. Can't remember if it gets the broadleafs too.
