I was wondering what bow to look at for my next purchase. i like the mathews z7 extreme and the zxt. who has the zxt and what is its pros and cons? w.seay are you out there? which one wold you buy?

Look hard at the Elite Impluse 31. I shoot a Mathews Reezen but if I were buying a new bow, it would be hard to pass up either the Impulse 31 or 34.

Being a former Mathews guy, I wasn't really impressed with either bow--both draw cycles were really aggressive and the backwall was spongy. The whole line starting with the Reezen to the Chill series was that way--they are shoulder killers. I would shoot a bunch of bows and see what you like, instead of focusing on one brand. The new binaries like Elite, Prime, obsession, New Breed really are great shooting and drawing bows.

What are your thoughts on the Z7 in regards to bad shoulders. I have had issues with both shoulders throughout the years (sports injuries). what would be a good switch from the Z7? I have a 29 inch draw and its cams are 60/70.

Do you know of any dealers in the Memphis area? I have all but quit shooting my bow and I hate it because I really like bowhunting.

I'm by know means a Mathews guy anymore, but the Chill X and the Halon X are two of the finest bows Mathews has put out since the Switchback and Drenalin days. I wasn't impressed at all with the HTR or the TRG.

Well I thought I had figured out what to do. Does the Halon line 5,6,7 fall in line with no cam technology. Shoulder issues are my consideration. Thouhghts?
Was out at Shelby forest archery today. Super nice guy owns and runs the place. Bought a new sight from him and he beat all prices on it i have found online and in store without me telling him what I had found. He set it up for me and allowed me to shoot on his outdoor 3d range. He is the Matthews dealer for the area. It will be difficult for me to go anywhere else after my past two experiences with him. I believe the shop on pleasant view carries bowtech and martin. Avery off broad street carries hoyt and elite.

I still say it is hard to beat a "point, shoot, and explode". I love them and they have served me well for over 30 years.

Elite is a fine choice but I think you'd be very happy with the Mathews. The left over HTRs can be had for a good price and a lot of people
Love them. They're probably the quietest bow I've dealt with.
I would personally check out the Halons. They are an improvement on the HTR and used a lot of technology from it. You'll be hard pressed to find a stronger, more well built bow. The draw cycle is very nice as well for the speed they get. The draw is similar to the No Cams except they're stiffer in the beginning (where you're stronger) and that's a good thing.
Accuracy wise, I've shot my Halon X better than any bow I've had. I won a good chunk of change with it in ASA this year. I'm hunting with it now because I couldn't make myself use my Chill X to hunt with even though the specs are all around better for hunting. The Halons just relentlessly hit behind the pin, hold tune better and are just solid.
On a side note, I'll be shooting X Comps on the 3D range this year, they're more aggressive than the Halon Xs but fits my shot style. I'm going to shoot a little less weight than usual. Very excited about these bows. I've been asking for something like this since my Mathews days began.
Mathews is headed in a great direction. Expect good things to come. If anyone ever has any specific tuning, technical or any other Mathews questions, feel free to PM me. I've spent quite a bit of time with them thru the years

What year Are the Halon's that I see on the market. Did Mathews come out with Halon in 2015?

I have the Halon 7 and love it. With that being said the Elite bows are great and I really like REN's Obsession. I think the feel of a bow is a very subjective thing. For me, it's a hunting tool and it doesn't have to have the firmest back wall or silky draw cycle. It has to feel good in my hands, shoot where I aim it, and be something that I enjoy.

Shoot bows and then decide which one like the best. All the brands are great. They just al shoot differently . I will say this . The hype behind elite is real . They are the most forgiving bow out there . If top IBO is not hot on ur list look at Elite

Went with the Halon 32. Phil out at Shelby Forrest set me up! Super smooth, quiet, fast and not bad on my shoulder. Very pleased all around. If your in the market for a new bow go shoot the new halon.
i went out last week and picked up a obession .all i can say is wow !!!ive shot them all pse ,mathews ,hoyt bear ect ect.shoot them all they go find a obession dealer last .think you will be surprised

The customer service of Obsession is what will keep me loyal. Transferable lifetime warranty for one. I bought my Obsession in July and had it set up and shot about two weeks and noticed one of my cam posts had a sharp spot. They overnighted me new cams, string and cables. The bow I bought was a camo riser with black limbs. After a couple of months I wished I'd went with camo limbs so I called them and asked how much. They told me they'd send me new ones if I paid the $21 shipping and ship my old ones back.
When I got the new limbs there was a note inside that said they wouldn't do anything with used limbs so keep them or sell them. I've kept them as back ups.
Like a lot of bows though a set of custom strings really made a difference. I went with Catfish Customs and couldn't be happier.
