Given 2,000 or so acres to hunt; with 20 food plots and a mixture of pine thickets and big hardwoods(lots of white oaks) If you want to produce as many mature bucks and you want them to express as much antler potential as possible. Where do you start?

What I would do to start is get a good idea of your buck to doe ratio and decide how many does you need to harvest. Also, trail cameras are an invaluable tool to give you an idea as to what you have on your property. But key is making sure you give the younger guys a pass, despite what kind of headgear they may have.

Good advice tn droptine. After that? Have fun. I am being serious. Enjoy the process and don't get to uptight with any of it. Use it as an opportunity to enjoy the journey.

As tn_droptine said, you have to know where you are now. The only way to know that is with a lot of trail-cam data.

You also need to know how your current deer density is relating to the available food sources. Take a long hard look at browse pressure this winter, especially late in the winter, like late February. Are the food plots eaten down to the dirt? How heavily browsed are the most preferred natural food sources?

Good point, I have to throttle myself back sometimes to make sure I am enjoying it.
