Where to place e-caller with tree stand?

I just bought a FoxPro and plan to use from tree stand (extra heavy brush and I am fidgety anyway).
Where should the caller be placed in relation to the tree?
Behind me along the expected avenue of approach? Off to one side?I also read that use of a tripod will get you some distance. I got the FoxJack 2 to attach to the caller, so maybe the tripod isn't such a great idea.
Any advice for a novice caller user appreciated.

Almost for forgot, what is the best distance for reliable use of the remote control?

i would want to put on the ground on the near side of an opening on the upwind side. woods sets are tough! better be alert. half the ones we called this week were paired up already

This is a bow only area (woods next to neighborhood), bordering farmland.
I saw a pair earlier this week while deer hunting. Got one to within 20yds with a mouth call I keep on my climber, but he stopped broadside with a tree blocking a good shot. Saw a single an hour later.
These suckers hardly ever stop moving and with the brush, I hear them long before I see them!
