I am looking for some help on where to set up and hunt ? I live around Douglas lake and I want to hunt on some of the TVA land around my house. I have 3 coves that are in walking distance from my house, other wise its by boat and the water is going out fast and will probably be gone by the start of muzzle loading season. My question is should I set at the top of the ridge or in the bottoms that lead out to the main part of the cove and to the lake. Any thoughts or ideas would be a great help new to this area and kind of lost but I want to try to hunt what little area I can.

Look for the deer sign. This time of year I'd be looking for acorns in the ground with the most deer tracks/droppings

I've found quite a few scrapes and rubs too so keep your eyes open. My best advice is get on google earth and look at the terrain try to find funnels. Bedding areas and feeding areas then as inconspicuously as you can go put in some leg work and see if what u found online holds true. Go before a big rain if possible, or even during. Then set up... Hunting new areas always requires a lot of homework, and honestly trial and error...
