When was this fawn born?

Our Rut is always late but this little guy is ridiculous!

I don't see spots, but it's definitely young.

Nearly All of our fawns drop in August and September. I have pix of fawns with spots in October and November every year.

It is almost impossible to age a fawn after the spots are off for a myriad of reasons.

But as the spots begin to fade, you know that fawn is 3 to 3.5 months old.

The latest I've ever seen a fawn with spots on my farm in middle TN Is early November, and that is over decades of studying them. Most have lost spots by end of September.

In south MS, I've seen 3 different fawns with spots in December in only 7 years of running trail cameras, and had 1 that still had spots in January!

I actually saw a pair of fawns in late December years ago in Dickson county that still had very visible spots.

We had one here still with spots in early December. The doe it was always with was a previous years fawn that likely got bred in it's first cycle late in the season.

Rare, but you could see one with spots even in February.
Always a tiny percentage of outliers.

I've gotten a few of these in Rutherford county. Our primary rut generally falls between Nov. 10 and Nov.24, but we almost always have a 2nd rut 28 days later and it is not abnormal to see rut activity again in January. This is via photos on my property. However, I see bucks chasing does in the area sometimes into March. I doubt much breeding happens here that late, but obviously if I get a spotted fawn in Nov pic every once and a while, it is at least happening in one off situations.
