Food Plots When to spray

I had weed problems last year in my first ever clover plot. I plan to spray this year, when is the best time to spray.

As soon as the weeds start growing actively and get about 6 inches tall. That way you can kill them before they produce seeds.

Depending on what type of weeds you have, you may have to do two seperate applications. One for grasses & the other for broadleaf. We use Clethodim for the grass & 24DB for broadleaf, and usually wait a week or two in between.

Since this is a new plot, you may also have to spray a couple more times between now & fall. Mowing can also be utilized as well. You'll really just have to figure out what works best for your situation.

As far as the best time of year to spray, should I spray after green up or wait till first time I bush hog in june?

Don't spray and immediately bush hog or bushhog and immediately spray. You have to let your chemical have time to work.

What weeds are you trying to kill?
What herbicide do you intend to use?

Look up your herbicide label. See what growth stage you need to spray your weed species at. Spray at that stage with the appropriate rate.

Have you calibrated your sprayer output?

Don't just take internet forum advice and wonder why the spray didn't work or your clover died. Do your research, read the label, calibrate your sprayer.

Follow the label, it's not just a good idea, it's the law!
