Assuming you didn't have to or couldn't force yourself to before you left home, what's your procedure for when nature calls while you're in the stand?
How far away do you go for no.1 & no.2, do you carry a shovel for the odd no.2? Etc...

I don't know what it is about getting to the woods, but it's like a laxative. I almost always have to go, and can almost never force myself to go beforehand. For number one, I used to carry a pee bottle but based on what my dad and others here have said I don't even worry with that anymore. So I just go out of the stand if I have to (but haven't had to yet since I stopped carrying my pee bottle). For #2 I try to go closer to my vehicle, but once I had to go quickly out of the stand and I just dig a hole and cover well. It aint ideal, but again...when nature calls...

Good question, interested to see what others who are more experienced say...
 
When I need to pee while hunting from the stand I stand and pee from the stand, I've done this one many occasions and have had deer come within 5 yards or so of my stand within 30 mins and they paid it no attention. As far as #2 goes, fortunately I've not had to while hunting.

As been discussed here many times, the smell of urine or feces, does not affect deer. So get far enough to make you comfortable but don't worry about it. Even if you let it fly from the stand, you'll be ok.
 
I just stand up, pick a leaf on the ground and try to hit it for #1. #2, I try to walk off the path that I have to walk in and out of and go for it. The worry of deer smelling it doesn't cross my mind
 
#1 Right from the stand, no problem. Doesn't affect the deer at all.

#2 I have about a 35 min drive to my lease so usually about the time I get there in the mornings I'm ready for my daily constitutional. Pick a nice place out of the way before I get to my parking place and let it go. Always keep toilet paper in my backpack in case it hits me in the stand. Very rare but it has happened. In that case I just climb down and pick a spot not more than 10 feet from my tree.

Side note, toilet paper in your backpack is great for using to mark a sparse blood trail through the woods. Easy to see and biodegradable.
 
I'm not proud of it, but I've done both out of the stand before. A leafy boonie cap that I was wearing is missing a few leaves now...
 
well...I have no need for a shovel. The neighbor across the way doesn't keep his dogs up and they're always running on my land and spoiling hunts now and then. I almost shot his black one by accident as he had snuck 9FOR A CHANGE) into my area. I heard something tearing up a bush...I got my scope on him thinking "oh no...I have hogs on my property"...well I saw it was his dog. I love dogs so was not tempted. I just dump by my truck......like yesterday. When I come back, sure enough, it's gone. I chuckled thinking about the next time the pooch gives his owner a sloppy lick!
 
I always use a pee bottle. I have heard about deer walking up and even licking the spot. I wonder how a mature deer will react. I would rather not find out if it is negative.

In terms of a deuce I usually hold onto the front bumper and let it fly. Unscented wet wipes are my choice for clean up tools.

#1 right off the stand or in a scrape along the way in, #2 different story and I will go couple hundred yards downwind if it comes to that.
 
I've never pooped in the woods in my life. Now I have had to turn around and head back to the house a few times when walking down the road to the part of the farm I'm going to hunt for the day. Since I walk straight from the house to the woods, that's no big deal other than getting to my stand later that I wanted to. As far as peeing, I pee anywhere the urge hits me. After learning about, and proving for myself, that human pee actually attracts deer to visit mock scrapes, I quit worrying about the smell of human urine spooking deer.
 
I piss off the stand but I find a tree or log to lean against to "pitch a loaf" as someone here once called it.

A bud on our Alabama lease was turkey hunting last spring. He'd just gotten a gobbler to answer when he got a cramp. He sat on a thick branch of a dead fall and happened to look down just as he started. He saw the unmistakable pattern of a timber rattler buried in the leaves just behind his feet.

He said he hadn't moved like that since he was in a "sack race" as a kid. After he'd hopped away and got his pants up he was in a dilemma. He didn't want to use his shotgun and alert the bird and quietly disposing of the snake with a stick was difficult but he managed, breaking AL law at the time I'm sure.....
 
I have never dropped a growler in the woods but it is kinda fun seeing how far your stream can go from 25 feet up. Always use your windicator to determine proper direction though.

Pee is not bad...I make my own scrapes and pee in them...it works ,I have pics. from my homebrew of several deer coming to this scrape

As far as pitching a loaf ..I have never had that problem..But I have a Brother inlaw that goes as soon as we get in the woods LOL.
 
I missed a 10 pt then had him walk to my tree a few weeks ago and smell right where i peed. Then i shot him.

It's a good idea to have whatever you are hunting with close at hand. Especially if you pop a squat. My son has killed deer with his pants around his ankles. I accuse him of grunting by them in.
 
I just don't go because of the hassle of having to move around. I wake up two and a half hours before time to leave, I watch tv, I eat something small but high in nutrition, and I drink a cup coffee (my laxative), and then let loose 30 minutes before game time.

I dont usually have to go on the stand to often.But of course i have had to. A number1 just go off the stand.But number 2 i just crap wipe kick leaves over.I do remember a guy on this forum last year said he had a mess on his hands trying to crap in a gatorade bottle on the stand.wish i could remember the post it was hilarious.

I started to post "x 2", but actually, it DOES EFFECT deer.
IMO, there is no better "deer call" than the sound of urine (or even feces) loudly hitting the ground, especially if you're 25 feet high in a tree.

It's a natural sound they hear every day, and the aroma will not spook them.
Should you see deer "appear" to be spooked by the aroma, it's the aroma of something else (like where a human's pants touched some weeds or his hand touched a tree).
