Well you might find this tidbit interesting. A friend was watching a wild hen in his yard one morning. The hen was bearded. She raised her wings and flapped hard. the 5 1/4 inch beard fell to the ground. I now have it.

How often does that happen? Good question.

A beard is a prehistoric feather ,but doesn't shed,but the tip end wears off on the end and is always growing.

Probably the same one I heard about.
 
Lol I just had to read the responses to this person, I was like "they can't be serious", but yea all my beards have fell off smoothly with the cut of my pocket knife, works pretty well, when I was in highschool, I would carry it around in a ziplock bag full of salt and a beard, lol
