start bedding near shore, i have no boat so i have to wait until they come to the shallows

usually start catching them below ft. loudon dam in early march. they move up shallow in the lakes about mid to late march.

It will vary... on Chickamauga Lake in 2008, crappie were bedding shallow in late March. However in 2009, they didn't move up shallow as well until early April.

You can't give it an exact time-frame. It depends solely on the weather. Mr. Simms post is an excellent example. The first week or so of mild weather to get the water temps rising usually does it though. :)

When the water temps start hitting around sixty degrees they start getting shallow in numbers.
