I worked really hard this past spring and summer to get new shooting areas cleared on my place. I put my buddy I a place this morning I felt confident he would get a shot at a deer. At 9 he had a doe blow at him, turned around and there were three of them. 30 seconds of them trying to alert every deer in six counties of danger didn't seem to bother the buck angling up the hill in front of him. It was quartering pretty hard but he took the shot that was offered.
I didn't get a text, got worried and sent one. His reply, "I don't want to talk about it". Seems he was about in tears from missing the deer. I told him to go back to impact site, zig zagging the way the deer ran, got a call in 5 mins, this time he was in tears, of joy. Nothing like putting new hunters on a buck! He missed a six opening day last year, sweet redemption.
