I went back to the farm where I had boogered the coyotes about a week ago. This time I hunted alot smarter. The wind was a little better this time too. I climbed a mule face ridge skirting between a cut over and open hard woods. I set-up with my back against a downed tree on the edge of the cut over, the wind was nothing more than thermals at that point, they were rising so I was good sitting at near the top of a steep hill calling down into a brushy hollow. I used a locater first, nothing the woods were silent so I had a slight breach of ettiquette and went straight for old faithful, Coyote pup distress. I had pointed the speaker about 50 yards from the cut over just hoping one would poke it's head out. At about the 15 minute mark I thought I heard something behind me I turned to look and when I looked back a young coyote was sneaking toward me he would hide then come a little closer. I shot him at 86 steps with my favorite .308. The landowner is happy I'm happy and the coyote is in coyote heaven,
I'm sure he's happy too. I'm gonna try to send more coyote family members to see him there.
