Her ears have been damaged by the number of ticks that feast on her ears in the summer. Common scarring.

She's an old girl for sure, but looks like she's still healthy enough to breed and have young.

Also her tongue is out cause it's a salt lick.... I got tons of pics of deer with their to tongues out on salt

it's called having children... they will literally suck the life out of you.

When the fawn quits nursing, she'll put wt back on and be just fine

I had a doe come by me earlier this year with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth like so many dead deer pictures you see. She was with several others and it was the first thing I noticed. I wanted to arrow her, almost out of curiosity, but it didn't work out. And she was not at a salt lick, just walking through the woods.

This is a quite rare but well documented anomaly. It isn't well understood, but for whatever reason, a deer loses control of its tongue muscles. Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to cause them great harm, but their tongue is constantly hanging WAY out of their mouths.

Personally, I had never seen it until last year, on a client's photo census. Yet the deer is still alive and doing exceptionally well. The buck went from being a small 2 1/2 year-old 7 point to an absolute monster 3 1/2 year-old 10-point. Yet his tongue is still lolling all over.

And mega is most likely correct about the doe's poor condition.
