Whats the Zero for a .243 using 100gr shells?

My dad just bought a .243 rifle and we are sighting it in tomorrow. Does anyone here shoot that and what is the sighting zero you use? Thanks in advance.

Also I shoot .270 130gr and it is zeroed at 1 1/2" high at 100 yards and isn't very effective over 300. Any suggestions for guys on .270?
 
A 270 is very effective over 300 yards if you can shoot at that range. 1.5" high sight in @100 yards should be 6-7" low at 300 yards with a 130 gr bullet at standard 270 velocities. A lot depends on your bullet choice and velocity. Your 243 will drop a little more at 300 yards than the 270 will, and the 270 will be carrying more energy at that range than the .243 will. A .243 2" high @100 should be 7-8" low at 300, again depending on your bullet and velocity. The ONLY way to know for sure is to shoot your rifle and load at that distance.
 
Sighted in 2 inches high at 100 my Ruger 243 shooting the 100 grain whitetail america bullets is about 8 inches low at 300. My brothers gun.. Which is a model 7 shooting the I think 90 grain game kings loaded about as hot as he can with IMR 4350 is only about 6 inches low at 300 with the same zero.
 
I have 243 with 20" bbl shooting 100 gr hornady interlock bullets at 2825 fps. I sight it in for zero at 175 yds and do not have to consider elevation until yardage reaches 250 yds. At 250 yds I hold behind shoulder and 2/3 the way up the body. A 243 loses considerable energy after 200 yards.

I sacrifice a few inches in trajectory at distance for less rise of bullet at 100 yards. If there is a good rest and my heat is not pumping too hard, I prefer a head shot. A deer stopped right where it is shot is important for my hunting location. Neighboring land owners do not permit hunting or anyone crossing their fences. A deer traveling 75 yards could present an unpleasant situation.

My 270 win is zero at 200 yds. The first line of my BDC reticule is on at 285 yards and the second line is on at 375.
I will not take a shot over 100 yards without a rest of some type. When you decide on zero and have targeted your rifle, I would suggest a printed reference for wind affect as well as trajectory. I have this information on my scope as a quick reminder to watch the wind.

the farthest shot I can take on my place is 125 yards because of how thick it is and the fields being small. My average shot is 30-60 yards. I zero at 100 yards.
 
I have heard of 4,8,10,12,16,20,28,1nd 410 gage shells but never 100gr. shells. May be 100gr. bullet. Sorry just had to say it.
