What's the most accurate .300 win mag ammo?

I'm currently using remington core-lokt 150 grain bullet in my .300. At about 150 it starts shooting 2" groups but at longer distances that is a long way off. I have up to around 400 yard shot max. I'm wondering if maybe i should go with a boat-tail bullet?
 
well all guns like diffrent ammo but i would try some 165g boattails,federal makes a 130g xtp? that shows 35oofps & retains energy & shoots flat,im going to try some in my winchester mod 70 & see if it likes them,mike243
 
At longer ranges the Accubond, Ballistic tip, SST, Interbond, Scirroco, and Tipped TSX bullets would be a good choice. You really have to find out what your rifle likes the best. Try some 165 grain to 180 grain bullets. Core lokts aren't known to be very accurate at long distances.
 
Every rifle is different but my Browning A-Bolt .300 win mag LOVES the 150 grain corelokts.

The most accurate rifle / ammo combo I have EVER shot in my life was an Encore .308 coupled with Black Hills Custom Match hollow point bullets.
168 grain.
Scary accurate.
You might try them in your .300.... if they even make them, I dunno.
 
Like mentioned earlier, every rifle is different, even same exact brand and model. I don't know if they still do but Shooter's Supply (I think thats who it was) in Mt Juliet used to sell Estate 300 win mags which were inexpensive for 300 win mags and I could consistently keep a 1/2 inch group at 100 yds with them.

Not to sound like a wimp but has anyone tried the remington 300 win mag reduced recoil rounds?

I tried the reduced recoil from Remington last year and as far as my .300 they did not like group very well at all. There was less recoil though but for some reason they didn't shoot very well for me.
 
Like the others said, you have to see what ammo works best with your gun, but my Browning A-bolt loves the new Winchester Elite XP3. I don't think you will find a better performing ballistic tip bullet on the market, but then again at $50 a box you shouldn't!
