Spit, Nice fish!!!

7.5 lbs, it was in a tourney and big fish was 3 grand. We were about the 15th team to weight in outta like 150 plus boats. Some guy showed-up at the last minute and had a 7.8 lbs. I was bummed for a week! I still have never won any money in a tourney.

6lbs 11 ozs. Caught the fish on a t-rigged Mans Jelly worm on 6 pound line. Took a good 15 minutes to get it in the boat.

The scales said 9 lb. 15 oz. -- I called him 10!

Chickamauga Lake, late 1980's, on a fox hair jig and pork... just inside the northwest point of Patten Island. Early in year, cold water and he fought like a dishrag.

Smallmouth... a pair of 6-plus-pounders. Caught 'em back-to-back, less than 10 minutes apart on Dale Hollow on float-n-fly, Feb. 2004. Both were released following pictures. Fishing with Greeneville Outdoor Writer Larry Self. We took turns shooting pics of each other. These two fish have been published a lot of places.

Note snow on deck of boat. It was cold!

5 largemouths over 10, the biggest being a 11 3/4-pounder.

(But I am more proud of catching six in a row over 8 pounds! caught on a swimbait, that I soon tacked the NRA creedo to, "they can take this bait from me, when they pry my cold, dead, big-bass smelling hands from around it!")

But it is/was all once in a lifetime, I doubt lightning will ever strike again. (And truth be known, I had rather have used that much luck up on winning the Powerball.)

11lb.1oz. 27" largemouth- Tennessee
6lb. 5oz. Smally- Tennessee (In bassmasters mag. 2006)
5lb. 1oz. Kentucky (on Broken Scales)
Est. 2lb. Coosa bass (I was only 13 and did not know it was a coosa at the time) It was released

8.53 lb. largemouth I caught in a Guntersville bass tournament back in 1994 . I won big bass for the tournament, $450 . :)

Spit, keep in mind, I have been bass hunting for a very long time on some very good water.

I'd like to go to Texas bass fishing some day!

Dad says he is gonna take me to Guntersville when its good!

Not the biggest I ever caught, but the first one over 10 pounds, and I was plenty happy to get it. Got pictures of others buried away, but this one I could find easily. 10 1/4 pounds.

I caught a 10.4 when I was 13 on a buzz bait in early October. When I was 12 I caught a 9.1 off the same stump. Since then I have caught 7 8's and 3 more 9's.
Not really fair though because I teach school and I got to fish over 90 days last year.

I kept a pack of big bass photos in my desk once for only one reason.

A fellow always came in here, bragging...nothing wrong with that, it's what fishermen do, right? But this guy, jeeze, this guy was a know-it-all type. He was a big numbers guy, loved to talk stats (his stats). Heck, I don't know if he EVER just went fishing to have a good time (poor soul). And, he always talked down to me, because that's the way he was, and he knew so much more about bass fishing than I did (as if I cared).

He just knew I wasn't "really" a bass fishermen (and I am not, really, I guess, especially according to him), but anyway, a man can only take so much. So I finally stacked all my big bass photos up in a desk drawer and waited 'til I "couldn't take it any more."

"Taylor, you have NEVER caught a REALLY big bass, have you...?" he started in.

"Oh, I have caught a few," I said, as the drawer squeaked open slowly...kinda like the sound of a guillotine blade being pulled into place, I imagine.

Well, the "pro" was in mid-conversation about his earth-shattering fishing feats when I started playing my dang photos like a royal flush one at a time and each one hitting the desktop with a "how about that one!?!, it's pretty big, have you ever caught one that big!?! And a, "would you lookee there! Here's another! What about this one! Ever caught one like that!?! And this one!" Etc, etc., etc.
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
"Hey wait a minute, where are you going?"
He staggered backwards, "reeling" from the pain...and limped off, leaving with no goodbyes or "kiss my tailfins."

He and I don't talk big bass anymore, and I took those photos home somewhere and buried in a file, somewhere. Who knows?

It was mean, what I did, and I will pay for it one day, but the sonofagun deserved it. Wish I had it all on video so I could put in youtube.

I'm lovin' it! I get alot of that from tournament fisherman. Example: "We've been catching 17-20lbs every day." Then they come in with 3lb stringers. They usually don't last very long. I don't even fish the tournaments much. It just adds stress to fishing which I don't need.

Sounds like the guy I introduced to tournament fishing . He got so big headed after he learned how to fish and won a couple of tournaments , that he and I quit fishing together because he couldn't have fun unless he was beating someone .
