Since it's a slow time of the year.
What's important in a ML? Not only the gun itself, but the load as well.
 
Wasn't even thinking of that..
I was thinking along the lines of scope, load, accuracy, etc..
Do you have a preference of one over another? I have an Encore and a dozen+ Knight's - the scopes in the way on all, to me cleaning one vs the other isn't really an issue and I shoot straight black.

I have an Encore with a Bullberry custom bull barrrel 50 cal.stainless steel. It is very accurate with 300 grain Hornady bullets. I have a Redfield wideview 1.75 x 5 scope on it. I mostly shoot black when hunting. I look for reliable ignition and accuracy and I get it with this black powder rifle. I shoot 100 grains of black. Cleaning it is no problem. I have several other black powder rifles that are accurate but just dont have as much confidence in the iginition.That doesn't stop me from hunting with them though.
 
Accuracy is first, an unaccurate gun is uninteresting to me. I want a projectile that performs well on game, for deer meaning expansion and penetration. I want that projectile to cost less than .50 cents per shot. I don't really care much about ease of cleaning, I kinda enjoy the whole process. I have 3 cap guns and one inline cap gun and 2 breakaction 209 primer guns. They all have their place, some have iron sights one has peep sight, three have scopes.

This is basically my thought as well. I shoot pyrodex(up to this point anyway) and a 260 gr lead conical with a hollow point divot. I've retrieved a couple from deer and they have mushroomed perfectly. I'm still planning to go out and try to find the last bullet I killed this years buck with, as it passed thru, but into the side of the ridge behind the animal. I hope it's there somewhere, hoping the metal detector will find it.

I chose the NEF Sidekick for several reasons. One big reason is that primer access is so easy with a break open action. Also cleaning since you can have the barrel off in no time flat and breech plug out. Also I love how slim the receiver is for carrying. Even with the scope mounted, I can still wrap my hand around it easily and it's like carrying a stick it's so slim. Also most of the weight is in the barrel and it holds steady for offhand shooting. I don't emphasis accuracy much for a ML since i only use it during the 2 week ML season and hunt in thick cover during that time or places where the shots will likely be less than 100 yards. I have no problem hunting with a load that shoots into 3 moa for that reason. Terminal performance of the bullet is more important than accuracy anyhow once you have sufficient accuracy to hit the vital area of your target.
 
I like FUN! Plus all the other good things/people that go along with them.. I too agree with Accuracy. The rifle has to look good too.. Ignition doesn't matter to me as they all have a purpose.. I'm a black and lead conical guy and they've neither has ever failed me.
