Put a deer camera on the setI use peat moss, do you think they just aren't stepping on the pan?
A coon loves the feel of it because it is loose i have video somewhere of it. They will dig in it and flip the trap. I cant even begin to tell you how many times it has happened to me. I will set just off of the original trap with another trap and sift dirt completely without wax dirt or peat and will catch it by the hind leg almost every timeI use peat moss, do you think they just aren't stepping on the pan?
Odor problem? Human or bait? The one where just the pan is uncovered is an odor problem OR a toenail caught on that screen pan cover and likely a k9. The other could be improper bedding or odor. Who knows.
I use peat, no pan cover, and have never had that problem. You can use peat and still bed properly.

Have had them get in my traps on a few occasions.Had another culprit this morning, would have never dreamed of trapping a buzzard.
