I would say a stock 10/22 with no scope shooting from a steady rest should give groups of 1"-1.5" @ 25yds.

I agree on a regular stock 10/22.

I get 3/8" at 25yrds from my 10/22 target model w/scope. Completely stock. Bulk ammo. Winchester 550 box for 15.00 at walmart

I have no use for a 22 that wont hold MOA 5 shot groups,,off a rest,,that would be 1/4 inch at 25 and 1/2 at 50 and so on,,

for what I am wanting to get into really needs to do better than that,,

Its a stock 10/22 that was a hand me down. Put away dirty and stored for 8-10 yrs before given to me.

I have cleaned it and scoped it. Seemed to be pretty accurate at first but now I cant hit squat.

Ill set up the lead sled and target at 25 and see what we can get done.

I suspect its the waxy CB longs that are gunking things up.

Now I just need the time to set everything up and go shoot.

for hunting 1/2" -3/4" at 50y is plenty good.strickley target shooting is another story.the trigger can make a world of difference on any rifle & the lighter the rifle the more it can influence the shot.

I'll post some pics, I make a few youtube videos now and then and I wanted to do some test between a stock ruger 10-22 and then strip it and put on a match grad bull barrel and new stock. I'll upload them when I get home.

I shot 22's with a couple of guys a few weeks back.

One of the guys was always bragging that his 10/22 shot less than 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards, and it did........twice out of 8 pages of targets. You find this alot in the shooting world.

Anyone can luck up and get a .5" 3 shot group from time to time. When I am shooting groups I like to shoot 5 groups of 5 shots each and average them out. Doing this will tell you whether a gun and shooter is shooting good groups.

A stock Ruger 10/22 is chambered for the .22LR cartridge. Go get some .22lr and cease firing 'long' cartridges through your 10/22. I'm actually surprised the bolt cycled the CB long

firefox my 1022T fires subsonics with no problems
Subsonic .22 LONG RIFLE ammunition is good to go in a 10/22
Go ahead and try some CB 'longs' in your 10/22 and compare groups.
My 10/22 also functions great with sub-sonic .22 lr's ;)

the long has more juice than the subsonic or use to ,i dont think the cb will cycle, heck i have wondered if they even came out of the barrel :) .the longs will shoot i would bet,the only thing is i have asked for any in a lot of years & dont know if/who would carry any

I have a stock Ruger 10/22 Target that has had some trigger work done to it.
3-9X50 scope on top of it and it will shoot 10 shot groups that are dime sized at 50 yards all day long off a good rest.

i tell ya'll one thing my marlin 39a will hang with any 22 out there

hmmm a challenge...

u know me fastbs, i ain't scared!!

now when u start breaking out the anschultz rifles that are like mega bucks then i maybe out but for shotting like we do. the old lever gun with the "micro grooves" will hold its own!

Finally got sighted in.
CB longs pattern about 2-3" at 40 yds. Not bad, not great.

The cheap box remmy ammo shoot about 1" at 40 yds. MUCH better.

The aguilla "super duper fastest .22 LR ammo on the market" ammo groups about 6-7" at 40 yds. Blah. Guess I use it when I need to dispatch critters for processing.
