I've seen 7 does a 3.5 yr old 9pt and 3 unknown so far. The 9pt was certainly doing a lot of watching and sniffing but never chased/harassed any of the does...

All I'm seeing is floor tile on this dirty old construction site I'm working at. I would rather be sitting in the woods seeing nothing than doing this. It is seriously windy where I'm working today.

2.5 year old 8 pointer and 7 does. The 8 pointer checked the does but moped on after about five minutes.

Three different spikes and one young doe. Strange... Significantly less activity than last weekend. Also, any ideas or thoughts on the fact that we've seen so many spikes and buttons this year?

3 does. A 3 1/2 8'poinr. A spike and one shooter I think as they ha e been grunting bleating snort wheezing and chasing these does all over far hillside. It's amazing how the does always stop in the open but big boy doeS not. I have t seen them I about an hour. I think I'll get down.

Doe and a coyote. Watching trees fling back and forth due to some serious wind gust.going be a long one til dark.heck,I ain't got nothing else to do....anyone ever shot a deer in windy conditions like 5 his before?20 mile per hour gust,pretty constant

I saw a good 8 point and 9 point together at less than 50 feet but never got a shot since they came up on my right rear. I thought the 9 point was going to walk over and sit in my lap. He looked me right in the eye from about 35 feet away then decided I didn't belong there an turned back. They wandered away and vanished into the nearby thicket. Odd to see two good bucks traveling together this time of year.

Also I hardly heard any shooting at all this morning. Very little compared to a normal opening day.

I'm pretty sure peak breeding happened, on my place in Williamson County, starting last weekend and this past week. Scrapes went dead and all I saw was button bucks and yearlings in the afternoons. I didn't get to hunt the week before due to being out of town, but trail camera pictures showed the older bucks working scrapes and chasing does. Friday morning through this afternoon was wide open, with older bucks chasing does. The does have grouped back up, so I assume the bucks are trying to find the remaining unbred does. Would have killed my biggest buck ever if I had taken my m/l instead of my bow on friday afternoon. He was mature and got within 60 yards before he caught my wind. He ran through a wide open field at 3:30 pm. The first 2 hours after daylight and the last 2 hours of daylight have been crazy. When the does are feeding, the bucks are checking them. I hope they keep it up for another day or 2. My best 2 year old prospect chased a doe by me at 20 yards this morning, a 10 point I have watched all summer and passed several times , and got shot by a guy hunting the neighbors farm 5 minutes later. I had that sinking feeling when I heard the bullet hit. Crap happens.

6 bucks, at least (all looked to be 1.5 year old babies) and could not keep track of does...
