What would you have done?

Perfect wind yesterday to get in undetected and hunt one of my food plots. I left work early so I could hunt and walked in with my climber, but when I turned the last corner of the trail to enter the field there were already 2 does directly under the tree I had planned to climb feeding away in the plot. They were at least 100 yards away and with the South wind they never knew I was around. I decided (with ML opening Saturday) to just sneak out and not risk spooking them. With a ML or gun, I would have tried to just cover up in the brush and watch the plot from the ground, but there was ZERO to very little chance to get one in bow-range from where I would have had to hunt. What would you guys have done? I hated to waste a good afternoon to hunt, but I still feel satisfied with my decision.

Seems to me, it would hard to make a bad decision. Nothing you are going to do, short of blood trailing one all over theplace, is going to hurt anything.

Depends what time it was.if it was still early I probably would have watched them a while to see if they fed out of the field then I would have climbed the tree and hunted

I agree. When in doubt back out doesn't only apply to tracking deer.

If you feel good about what you did then it was the right decision. No wrong answer to this situation

If the deer are used to seeing a pick up like the farmer would use, you can run them out of the field with the truck then come back and hunt with no harm. You probably made the right choice given the situation. I would just go hunt some other spot. I doubt I would just go home, but that's me.

I woulda kept on & hunted, the rut is on & bein in the woods every min. you can is your best chance at a big one. Bucks are unpredictable right now, they could show up 5min after the does blow & ran off.
