Finally put my dozer to some important work and cleared my first food plot. Im looking for some suggestions on what to plant. Around an acre in size and Id like a perennial plant and possibly add in something that isnt that will last into gun season.

All my opinion- some like to use less seed than I do LOL 75-100 pounds of oats/winter wheat, 3 pounds chicory, couple 2 or 3 pounds of different varieties of clover. Always good to have variety in clover IMO. I personally like Durana, Resolute or Ladino, Patriot, and Cinnamon Red in a mix, with 2 or 3 pounds of each. All rates to the acre. This has worked very well for me in establishing clover/chicory plots in poor, rocky, dry soil. During the subsequent Falls, I just broadcast some wheat directly into my clover after I mow it, to get some green wheat for the Fall.
