I shoot an Elite Energy 35, and have a 5 pin Spot Hogg Hogg-It with dovetail, on it right now. All the pins are starting to run together, and am looking to sell that it and get a single pin. Not necessarily looking for adjustable single pin. What do you guys recommend?
 
If it was me, knowing that my farthest shot based on the terrain/ habitat I hunt would be around 45 yards, I would settle on a 30 yard pin. If you know where your arrow hit at 20 yards and 45 yards, you can make the adjustment. I would venture to say with your set up, bottom of the deer at 20 yards, and top of the back at 45, but it would be up to you and time on the archery range to determine your aiming point.
 
I would get a single pin slider, hha or I have a truglo that I love it, set it on certain yardage and leave it and still have the choice to move it.
 
I just shoot a single pin good to 25 yards. Anything further and I just don't shoot. I save the long shots for the 3D range.
 
I also shoot Elite (E35, Victory 37 &39) and for hunting I found that a single pin is the way to go for me. Shooting so much competitively and using a single pin, I finally got to the point where multi-pin sights really affected my shooting by clouding up my sight picture. I shoot an HHA Optimizer Ultra-Lite with a .010 fiber pin. I set mine to 26yds and leave it there, unless the target is past 30yds and then normally I have plenty of time to adjust. Why 26yds might you ask? Because that is the exact midpoint of rise/drop between 20 and 30yds—I have 2" either way.

I have used a spot Hogg fast eddie xl for two years now and love it. Its a single pin slider but it also has a dot below your main pin for fast shots. Set mine at 20 and my lower dot is dead on a 40 by luck.

I use pendulum sights, 0-40 yds 1 pin and no worry about yardage If you are 20' up in a tree

I have an hha optimizer. I finally got it fine tuned exact. It took me 3 years to get it absolutely perfect. I love it now. My wife has the react sight. It's pretty sweet. It virtually sets itself. I so of buy it if I didn't already have the other.

Me and a buddy have been fans of HHA single pins until he bought a Fast Eddie a couple months ago for his Obsession Defcon.

I must say, I'm sold on it. It's priced better than my HHA and that 2nd pin just rocks. That will be my next sight!!
 
One of my friends missed a nice bull elk a couple weeks ago because of his single pin. It was coming in at 25 yards but caught his wind and ran to 45 and stopped. He estimated his holdover incorrectly and shot over his back. I bet he wished that he'd had his 40 and 50-yard pins back.

I would suggest when sighting in, get a piece of cardboard and make a "T" with a giant sharpie (it'll give you a ¼" line to sight in with. When making these tapes it's absolutely imperative to get the most accurate data for your tape--that way your tape will be dead-on.

Sighting in using lines is more accurate and quicker because you have to focus on one plane at a time and because it's so thin, it removes margin of error.

Use the horizontal line to set yardage and the vertical party of the "T" to set the windage.

It also works with fine tuning fixed pins as well.
