With tss getting more expensive each turkey season, how much are you willing to pay for each shell before you say no more?I paid $74 dollars for a box of 20 gauge at the Convention this year, that is enough for me to quit using them.I don't take long shots anyway,way more fun to shoot them 30 yards and under with Longbeard, very good pattern in my 20 gauge.What price per shell are you willing to say, enough is enough?

$60 was breaking point for handloads. I'll pay my $33 for CP#6 &Tss #10 blend. Which will put 276 in a 10". Federal is $50 and shoot just fine if all else fails

I use the 410 and the only reason I have so much of it is because I caught a deal on gunbroker... it was around $20/box so $4/round.... I can deal with that, maybe if I had to have some I might go to 5 or 6 bucks a round... but... that's about my limit, I have to issue going back to Longbeard xr or double x in my 20 and 12 gauges. the challenge in the hunt is where the fun is, getting them in close anyways. any decent ammo will knock their melon off where a man needs to be shooting anyways, just my opinion though

I use my yearly Christmas gift cards every year for ammo, for the last five or six years its been for tss so im well stocked. It didnt go as far this year but it still cut them down to more than manageable

Not sure. I have enough for probably 7-8 years but yesterday I had to run to Walmart so I went to see what they had in tss. No 12ga, quite a few 410, and 2 boxes of 20 that were a 7/9 blend if I remember correctly. Probably should've bought them but instead I grabbed the only box of 12ga 3 1/2" Longbeard XR #5's.

ive bought my last one. i paid 45.00 a box for my last ones. i bought a ton of federal and remington regular turkey loads for less than a dollar a shell on black friday

anything over $10 a piece is to much. i will continue to buy the Federal Grand Slam instead of TSS.

Calling them in close and watching them strut in is the best part of the show.

its not really $20 though. You have to buy a box, so at current prices your looking at $80, but that doesnt still tell the whole story. You have to pattern your gun with 1 or 2 if its a new brand or your switching ammo. If you have a red dot you may have to shoot 1 each spring just to make sure everything is still on so that 1 box is for 1 season meaning each bird was really about $40.

Sure, in the big picture ammo is still one of the lower cost items but IMO at current prices its not a simple as kill 2 birds so it will last me a few seasons.

This. I handload and paid $85/lb this year. So its costing me ~$13/shell at that price. Next ones I roll will probably reduce payload to make it last longer. I'd still pay $20/shell. So i guess $150/lb aint out of the question for me to pay. Hope it doesn't come to that though. Got enough to last a few seasons.

I've just had too many bad experiences with commercial loads over the years. The original Hevi Shot Mag Blends switched components several times and you ended up having to look at the lot #s to see if they'd pattern worth a crap or not. Then Longbeard XRs had AND STILL have some issues. Never know when a company is going to change components that could very easily have a negative impact on the load.

…two bad things about this.
1, I don't think it will go down even if the tariffs or whatever are gone, because well, people overspend for them.
2. It is hard to find a 3" 2oz 12ga load for lead. Heck I really like the 1-7/8oz longbeards. I got a feeling they are doing away with those too.

Just over time everything gets cheaper and cheaper and worse and worse.
I guess I should quit griping and figure out how to load my own.

agree. all discretionary income that i allocate to hunting is going directly to purchasing land. cheapo shells for turkeys, the same old camo i bought in the 90s (still works fine)- heck i killed a 133" buck this yr with my bow at 10 yards while wearing black running pants and flannel shirt. deer or turkeys care little about name brands anyway. To be brutally honest, i couldnt tell alot of difference anyway. Remington nitros are just fine by me. federal grandslams, winchester xx. dead is dead

I got into the tss last year and bought enough for probably next few years. I'll probably by some .410 no matter the cost to give my kids a fighting chance but that's it for me when it's gone for the 20 ga. I'll go back to my 12 ga lead

I can certainly understand 410 users buying it. 20 gauge probably not necessary, 12 gauge no need at all imo

Yes,it is a must for 410 shooter's and probably 28 gauge shooters also.Im sure glad I bought a 20gauge and no smaller!

The whole point of TSS is to allow you to tote lightweight sub gauge shotguns, yet still have the same killing power of a 10g shooting lead.

Im packed and loaded for the MS opener on the morn.

But im toting my new Stevens 301 in 12g with LB XRs. Just as light as my 20g 870 compact.

Not going to he hampered at all by the single shot. I NEVER shoot a 2nd round if I miss with the first.

However, my shotgun is the least of my worries... I still haven't located a tom, and the freshest tracks I've found were 2 weeks old. Gonna be a LONG day tomorrow.

Yeah, an old Mossberg 500. Bought it new a Glasgow, Ky. Kmart in 1993

After buying the 12ga longbeards I ran across a Cabela's gift card I've been sitting on for quite some time so decided to use it on 2 boxes of Apex 20ga tss. Without the gift cards they were $16/shell. Cost me $7.58 out of pocket.

Thats interesting on the 20 gauge long beards. My Mossberg 500 patterns the long beards pretty tight at 40 yards. Never wanted to pay for tss after that.

I've tried LB 5's and 6's in 4 different 20's with different chokes. I wouldn't trust any of them past 30yds.
