What not to do with an MZ........graphic.

My friend/colleague....went to his cousins place to help him with his MZ.....While he was handling it the hammer dropped or somehow ignited, believing it wasnt loaded originally....he may have double loaded it....but wasnt intending to shoot it at that moment. Since he was holding instead of aiming it, it may have at least certainly have saved his eyes. Be sure of the status of your MZ before attempting to shoot it. He is in for a long recovery with those burns.

that's why i always check my muzzle loader before i load it or anything.

Sorry for the feller that got his hand messed up. I been burnt like that a few times with boiling hot water

details are sketchy and i have spoken to him personally....he cant figure how it fired since he wasnt aiming it....said the hammer dropped somehow but cant remember exactly what transpired....i told him it sounded as if it were double loaded but he wasnt sure since he had been told it wasnt loaded. I would bet we have a double load.....dont know if they are having the gun examined or what happened..............if he gets it figured out any more than what he has told me i will fill you in on details. my money is on "double load". :cry: .....of a particular note...isnt it strange how much of his "palm".....is burned....as if he had it over the breech rather than around the grip......if it had been around the grip it would or should have shielded it from so much heat.......maybe he had it over the breech?...............he was dazed from the incident and i am not sure he understands exactly what he did.

When you are handed a gun, no matter what the person says, do you always check to see if it's loaded? I know a ml is different from a rifle, pistol, etc... but to handle a gun with a cap and then not sure what happened? Person seems to be very lucky.
