Pulled up a tangle of line the other day with two of these attached. What are they?

Crappie rigs. If there's 2 of them on, you in theory could pull out 2 fish from a school at one time.

Gunsmoke is correct, the bead part is on the main line and the twisted wire part keeps your minnow away from the mainline.
