They are nomadic. They walk from our creek all the way to the pond on the opposite property line. They will kill all the fish. Cute but are a nuisance animal for us.
I agree. I remember a few years ago after touting how well the brookies were doing in certain streams in the Tellico area they announced how they were releasing otters in the same areas because at some point in history they lived there. Can't make up that kind of ignorance…it was earned by a useless college degree.

Otters were released in the Little River area in the Smokies but never in the Tellico area. They migrated there on their own just like they have in most other parts of the state. Somehow the Brook trout population is still alive and well in the Tellico area. I wish I could say the same for the fish population in the creek on my property.

Used to be a lot of em up there around city lake. I haven't been out there in recent years though. I can recall seeing em somewhat regularly growing up.

Well, that's what I was thinking. There is no water near so I thought maybe it was something else.
Thanks fellas
I believe there are fisher cats in that area. They were reintroduced on the plateau 20 or so years ago.

Years ago I went scouting with a friend… along the river.
There were 4 Otters that came swimming up. 'He' wanted to try and see if he could hit one. So he pulled his 1911 and took aim. After the first 3 were headshot- that last one made himself scarce.

I hate those damn things. Those otters, and snapping turtles are about the only critters I despise.
