What is the wild vining type plant that produces golf ball and larger fruit, about the same color as a lime?

Sounds like it could be a Maypop Passionflower: Passiflora incarnata. They call them Maypop's because if you step on the golfball size fruit it makes a popping sound. Here is a link on how the plant looks: http://www.ppws.vt.edu/scott/weed_id/paqin.htm

That's exactly what it is, thanks Stoner! They seem to be a preferred food source on one of my leases. They seem to be very plentiful this year.
