and repeatedly. For minutes at a time, like 30 minutes. It's a little higher than the "water drop" but could be that too. It seems to happen when this animal (I'm thinking turkey) notices movement but can't figure it out. It's happened to me a couple of times this week. And I know turkeys were in the immediate area. The closer I got the pitch got higher, almost like a putt but not quite. When I got real close, it stopped. It started a few minutes later about 100 yards further away. I would see or hear turkeys and go to try and stalk them in heavy camo. When I got close, I heard this sound. Some people say it's chipmunks but they usually have a higher pitch "chirp". I know this because I damn near stepped on a few, even today. It seems like it's a very short yelp, in a way. I'll try and get a sound file tomorrow. But they've been doing it all week!!!
