In my recent thread asking about late season tactics I got some good advice. But now I am wondering if this unusually cold weather will have an effect on the birds. I will hopefully get out Thursday morning at the earliest.

The cold doesnt seem to bother them much and its not gonna be all that cold anyway.

Wind and cold weather or just wind itself can make for some tough hunting tho.

As long as the sun is shining and the wind isnt howling the turkeys dont seem to mind what the thermometer says.

Agreed. The only thing I have noticed occasionally is that when it gets crisp they sometimes gobble really hard after the sun hits wherever they are in the woods. But for the most part cool spells don't bother them much. And like Buckdead said this isn't that cold.

An old timer once said the second day after a front had passed is usually a good gobbling day. I have since paid attention to that advice, and more times than not, it has held true.

So, tomorrow could be good. I like hunting crisp mornings because it seems you can hear a gobble for miles. I may even go with a buddy tomorrow in hopes of a really good gobbling day.

Thanks.

Now I better head to bed.

Getting up at 4am as usual. I love getting in there before sunrise even if I don't usually get a bird in range till 9 or 10 in the morning.
