The annual chili cook off @ work is this week. If I have time, I might throw something together. Mostly women entering so venison will be a delicacy. Thought about making some burgers up and smoking to cook them. Chop up and add to the mix. What do u think?

Yes put only deer meat in it and use the best recipe you know of. When everyone has talked about how good it is, you might break the news about Bambi.

Is smoked meat good in chili? dont think I have ever had a smoky chili before, I would want to fry just the plain ground beef in butter or olive oil and then add all the other ingredients on top. But that's just me

I make a lot of venison chili. I found a recipe from a Texas chef that I really like. I use all venison, but the key is to brown it good in bacon grease or lard. I also use a mix of course ground venison and small cubes of venison.

On a related note, I almost burnt my house down Friday night when I accidentally fell asleep on the couch for 6 hours while my chili was cooking. I woke up in a cloud of burnt chili smoke. Let me tell you, badly burnt chili will stink up your entire house really bad!
