Thinking about making a small plot inside of the woods . Any idea what I could use ? Have about 1/2 acre of wheat and oat in 1 area but want something a little inside the woods

Wheat. This is one of my micro plots in the woods one weak after broadcasting. Zero soil prep, zero rain. Sowed heavy to give the turkeys their fair share.

Hate to say it, but in that situation, I'd broadcast ryegrass. Very little nutritional value for deer, but will grow in poor acidic soils and moderate shade. And for some reason, deer love it.

I'd also recommend Cereal Rye/Winter Rye.

Seems to be pretty ph tolerant and plenty of time for it to grow still. Maybe a combo?
