What caliber and bullet do u prefer on coyotes.

I know this is an older thread, but… Paid for a lot of beer, cigarettes and meals out by coyote hunting in college. Marlin Glenfield M20 bolt action .22lr, all head shots. Got $10/yote from a local fur processor. Drop them in the field, turn them in and get $10. Went to WSU, hunted coyotes in WA/ID border area.
Down here I just use my hog/deer gun, an SKS and 122-124gr pseudo hollowpoint. In deer season use S&B, PPU or Tula psp. A 123gr or 154gr psp anchors them pretty well.
Have also used cheap steel case 9mm 115gr for a couple that were on a gut pile.

For me, it's just whichever one I can get my hands on the quickest.

Remember, shooting coyotes doesn't reduce their population.
😜 that's called syence yall.

I trap too. My skinned coyotes brought 5.00 dollars each .
Not worth the effort, at least for summer pelts. Price for winter pelts is not much better. Too many mangy, scrawny coyotes. The ones we'd get out west 1991-1994 were large, fat and fuzzy. Buyer wanted them intact save for bullet hole/s.

In .223 I like a 50 gr ballistic tip. .204 I like a 40 gr ballistic tip. 45 grain soft point leave too big a hole
