What are you buying for this year?

Our annual stand-moving/work-week is going to be a little early this year, so I've been on a buying spree getting ready for it. Picked up four new Muddy Huntsman Deluxe ladder stands to replace some of our older, unsafe stands (mainly those $59 one-person ladders Bass Pro used to sell - the ones that are just a seat at the top of a ladder, no shooting rail, incredibly dangerous for old men). Have enough extra ratchet straps for replacing old ones that I didn't have to buy any new ones this year. Bought a new fanny pack for carrying all my tree stand moving equipment (zipper went out on my old one). Two new trail cameras (Garde Pro A60s), and enough Energizer Lithium batteries for 18 cameras. Needed a higher-capacity SD Card carry case, so picked up one that holds 40 SD cards. Bought a gallon of Bifen insecticide for spraying our log cabin. Carpenter bees are eating us alive. Picked up a nice piston pump backpack sprayer and padded harness for spraying the cabin and later for spraying vegetation. Picked up some cheap chemical suits and face shields for spraying the insecticide (spraying up over your head means some of that is coming back on you). Bought a big roll of burlap for making camo wraps for our 2-person ladder stands. Seriously considering ordering my fall food plot seed now, so I'm not frantically trying to find the seed I want in September. I'm sure there's going to be more...

Bought a couple Muddy ladders, going to buy a Millennium loc-on and climbing sticks. Also looking at picking up a couple Wiseeye cell cams.Bought a recurve but accuracy isn't coming as fast as I thought. Probably won't hunt with it this year maybe next. LOL..

Need a recommendation on the best battery pole-saw chainsaw. I really like the type that can be used as just a handheld chainsaw or attached to a pole for cutting up above your head. That would be a game-changer for setting up stands. Hand saws and manual pole saws really suck.

I have a Dewalt 12" chain saw I use but would like to have a pole saw myself. I still have the manual type and yes, it does suck.

So I am pretty good so far. I know I will catch he!! for this but I am stocking up now on my sprays and body wash. Hunting Fort Campbell and not knowing which area I will be in from day to day or which spot in the area I do get it's not always possible to play the wind perfectly so anything I can use to my advantage in that regards I use.

In regards to new stuff I am going to get some new lowering lines for my gear and gun/bow, I am buying some new attachable bags to stow my gear in that attach to the sides of my tree stand and that's really it. I say that now but I also know how I am

As for new equipment this year I think I'm good. XOP has a new stand that weighs like 5lbs so I might check that out. I've got boxes of cameras still unopened so I don't need any more.....although I probably will. Gona need lots of batteries. Otherwise I'm ready to go. Can't wait for season to get here! I'm tired of mowing.

Pretty much just seed for food plots. I'll have to buy more than normal this year since two of my farms aren't being planted this year so I'll put in at two extra plots.

This actually works very, very well. I have two hanging on my cabin porch and immediately the carpenter bees disappeared and haven't been back.

We've tried everything, including bee traps, and nothing is working. In spring, we are swarmed by hundreds of carpenter bees. I killed 72 in one weekend a few years ago. Didn't put a dent in their population.

As for pole saws, I use a 40v ryobi, but that's because I have other implements that run on same batteries.
I have one of the Muddy's, but most of my ladders are Big Game Hunter HD 1.5's. Can't remember what I like about it over the muddy.
I've just bought battery packs for my Tactacam cameras. Might get a couple of solar chargers for them.
I have plenty of stands, but have been toying with getting a Sportsmans Condo SC1.

Probably the price! The Big Game's are $50 cheaper. But I like the fold-out foot-rest and the lumbar support in the seat-back.

I have plenty of stands, but have been toying with getting a Sportsmans Condo SC1.

I have 4 of the SC2s and absolutely love them! We put them where we will always want a stand, overlooking our largest food plots. They make awesome places to hunt in rainy/windy weather.

I think that's the theory? I don't really know for sure. My brother hung them up and I thought he was an idiot....until it worked. It worked immediately. The bees left and never came back.

My dad and I both have the dewalt battery pole saw and it is awesome. Cuts like a fiend and extends out a great distance. I don't usually use the extra extender, makes it a little unwieldy. My dad's leaks a little bit of chain oil, prob a bad o-ring. Very happy w them!

Whatever brand batteries you currently use would be my vote. Or a Kobalt or ryobi with a warranty

For the battery-powered pole saw/chainsaw question, I picked up an Ego 56v chainsaw and a Craftsman 20v pole saw from Lowe's back in the Spring to clear some shooting lanes. I've only had a chance to get out once with them, but both ran flawlessly and cut through what I needed to cut in that spot with no issues. Didn't even use half of the battery life in the chainsaw for everything I cut and that was what I primarily used.

As far as gear, I've already bought and installed a Timney trigger for my Marlin 444 rifle. Just have to take it out and get it sighted in again. Will probably buy a Tactacam 3.0 Ultra trail camera and some base layers from First Lite. That's probably all the new gear I'll get this year, just have to prep what I already have to get it ready to go.

What are your thoughts on the climber? I've already got summit & lone wolf climbers but hardly use them because they're heavy, cumbersome, and I just don't use climbers a lot. But I might if it only weighed 12lbs.

Don't know the brand. But Bass Pro would sell them for $59 during their Fall Hunting Classic. We ended up buying a bunch of them. Just a ladder, wire-mesh floor and wire-mesh seat. No shooting rail or railing of any kind. They were awesome for their day, but unsafe for old guys like us who have trouble staying awake in their stand! I believe they are 15 or 16 feet. I'll check to see if I still have some laying around, and we'll be taking a couple down. But you can just have them. We have no use for them anymore.

Bought a Milwaukee and it's been a game changer. Gentleman at my club here in TN let me use his for some work and I was sold.
Get it when they have a sale and you can get extra batteries etc for less. I bought the pole and chainsaw combo and it came with extra batteries, charger and got a blower for free.
Hand held blower is pretty impressive. Stuck it in my tractor cab to randomly blow off front while bush hogging.

As for new things bought:
Only thing big is some Redneck blinds. Finally broke down and decided to see what all the hype was about. They are nice but even getting them discounted still not sure they are worth it. We will see!
Hard to judge them when I haven't hunted out of one yet. We will hopefully see shortly.

Bought a handful of 18-22' ladder stands for my club here in TN. I like to be "high" and they have a lot of 15' stands.
Probably fine with no difference besides having to limb more with taller stands. But my OCD kicks in and I feel like I'm too low.
just part of the constant battle I have in my head while dreaming about huge white-tails.
