what an I doing wrong?

I got a new covert. Put it out and got a ton of pics the first time. Cleared the card and put it back out. O pics. This is the second time I have done this. What am I doing wrong. Plenty of battery life.

Could be several things. Card got locked, cards not formatted or something most everyone has done, not turn the camera on.

What do you have the camera set up over? It's hard to imagine no deer pics after getting a bunch initially. I'd walk in front of it and test it and go from there. If still no pics then maybe you've set a time frame for taking pics and the deer aren't there yet or the camera itself is malfunctioning. Seems quite a few do.

On my new Moultrie all I have to do is erase them in that camera and it reformats it while doing the erasing.

Mine did same thing. I wasn't formatting the card in the camera. Format card in camera and you should be good to go.

You do not have reformat the SD card every time with trail cameras, however - if you are having problems with one, its a good idea to try reformatting it. Some times SD cards can get corrupted which will cause malfunctioning of the camera.

If that doesn't fix the problem, I would also take all the batteries out of the camera and then put them back in.

If that doesn't work...well you will probably need to call covert. The good news is, their customer service is top notch. Hope you get it worked out.

While it is not "mandatory" to reformat a SD card every time, it is a really good idea to do so, especially if you mix and match cameras with SD cards - i.e., run different camera models or makes and use the same cards for all of your cameras.

What I do is simply use the camera to erase and format every single time I put a new card in. I never use my computer. Just insert the new card and choose erase or if there is a format option, choose format. That should erase all the images and reformat the card for that particular camera. Never had a problem with corruption since I started doing that.
