What about Planting Persimmon Seeds?

I "harvested" some out of coyote scat about two months ago. This apparently strips the hard outer layer off the seed, helping it germinate. I've had them in the fridge in a baggie with a moist paper towel for the past couple of months, supposedly breaking their dormancy.
In late winter or early spring, I will plant them in small pots indoors near a window to get them started, then transfer them outdoors when ready.

Yes, I read all this stuff on-line but have never done it.

Any thoughts on all this?

I'm playing the same game this year as this is my first attempt at grow persimmons. Put up 5 bags of seeds, 1)picked from the tree and washed off the snot, 2) picked from the tree washed and filed off the hard cover on the seeds, 3) picked from the ground and washed, 4) picked from coyote scat, 5)bag of persimmons whole out in the cold. Plan on cleaning them this spring.

All together, there are about 100 seeds

It would be interesting to separate them according to your methods of harvest, then see which method germinates best. Good luck.

I scratched the surface of the seeds with my pocket knife and they all sprouted well. Just scratch the coating enough to let moisture in.
