Now i'm 37 and my brother 43,my dad calls us over and has 2, 270 remingtons camo stock black matte barrel,new nikons for both and rings and mounts even a box of shells.Said he just couldn't wait til xmas! The last guns he bought us was when i was 11.Needless to say we were the below average family but never done without.
But now we all are very fortunate thank the Lord.Dads will surprise you, you just never know when.

Both guns drive tacks by the way.I have always hunted mostly with brownings and still do but i think this is gonna be my go to gun!

IMO those rifles (no matter what make) are true treasure

DA....I have to give it where it's due. You must have had years of love for remington 700's. You stick by them no matter what to the end. And now getting to put my hands on one that i know i would never get rid of i think i've gone green. This rifle, correct me if i'm wrong it's a sps??? Has realtree hardwood camo and matte finish feels better than a pair of 5 year old blue jeans.I could cool the barrel and take my time and it will cut bullet holes. And the 270 kicks like a 410 if that. I think i'm with ya DA.

fact it is my opinion you can take any rifle (with in reason) and make it shoot with right ammo factory or handloaded
browning
savage
winchester

so motor oil is motor oil

but

a rifle is a personal thing

kinda like ford chevy

but i like the remington
after market parts are dime a dozen
easy to tinker with accessorize

and the no j locks are sexy as heck

Very cool story. I love 700's. There was an sps 308 varmit rifle in the classifieds that I wish I had the money for.

Now that the sps has the drop open floor plate, whats the real design difference between the sps and the BDL? Is it like comparing an 870 express to a 870 magnum or Wingmaster where the only real difference is the quality of the parts? Are the stocks interchangeable now?
