I am using 95 grain Hornady sst's over 36.2 gr of 4064 out of a remington 700 sps ss with pretty good success (sub Mao at 100 yards) but I can't get the Noslers to shoot better than 1.5 inches. Any suggestions? I don't have an overall length chamber gauge yet. I am just loading to factory recommended overall length. What are u guys shooting out of ur factory guns?

My daughter is shooting factory Cor-Lokt's, 100 gr. I do plan to reload the brass tho, and was thinking of using IMR4831 to start.

85 gr sierra gameking over 38.5 grains of imr 4064. Roughly 3200 fps

I'm also a fan of the 85 gr SGK. Killed a few with it as well as my buddy's son with some not so great of shots.

Until I finish reconfiguring my 243 this is still the load of choice. Changing scope, trigger has been replaced, Going to 90 grain Accubonds. This is about 2900 FPS, temp that day was 103 indicated.

Wickedest load I have ever used in a .243 is with 85gr Sierra HPBT's. That is one mean pill. Try 43gr. of IMR4831 and that bullet and see how it does for you. Everyone that I have gave that recipe to is amazed in their rifles also.

I hate .243 with a passion but loaded up some for a fellow members daughter

95 nosler BT over re 15 about 2880 fps

DA, Just curious why do you hate.243? I just picked up one of those Wal Mart 700's for $297 and all they had was .243. I wasn't thrilled with that caliber either but couldn't pass it up at that price.

My opinion is not based on the performance capabilities of the cartridge as it works fine for varmits and deer and such

I just dont like it

i would take a 7/08 any day over one

or 25/06 or .223 for that matter

having said that different strokes for different folks that is why they make more than one caliber

I'm partial to Hornady bullets in just about any caliber, including my .243.
My Encore in .243 loves Hornady 100 gr btsp with 42 gr of IMR 4350.
It's accurate in my rifle and terminal performance is outstanding.

Ya know, I used to shoot a Nosler Book Max load of IMR7828 behind the 100 grain Partition.

It was the first handload I ever made that shot two bullets in one hole. Unreal accurate and consistent winter to summer.

I took my 700 Wal Mart special to the range today. Definitely cheap scope. Bore sighted at 50 yards and was good at 3 inches high. 100 yards wouldn't even hit paper. Bore sighted at 100 yards which was tough but at least got on paper. New scope will probably make it a shooter.

3" high at 50 will put you way over your target at 100.

factory loads I like the fed 100g sierra btsp ,carrys 1000lbs out to about 400y , not sure if you can get that with a hand load
