Hey guys! Just moved out to West TN and looking to put in for a public land hunt this year. What are some good locations to put in for out here? Just looking for a good opportunity to get some meat in the freezer not a trophy. Will most likely be hunting from a ground blind with my 8 y/o son. Happy Hunting :super:

I believe all the quota hunts have already been drawn for. I'm sure some west tn guys can help you out with finding some good public land around you to check.

Quota hunts have not been drawn yet. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen a list of dates and codes for quota hunts yet for 2017

Yeah I didn't think they were drawn yet, I have been keep my eye out for the dates on their website. Just looking for an area that has a good chance to see a large doe for the meat freezer. Any input is helpful. Thanks guys

Where are you located in relation to Wayne County?

You are located close in proximity to myself (SW TN). I have attached a link below (first one) that shows some of the TWRA Quota deer hunt opportunities from last year. As you can see, there is only one option for west TN, and that is Presidents Island. The doe hunt there will be an excellent opportunity to put some meat in the freezer, just be aware that the buck of a lifetime may walk by and you will have to watch him walk away. Also, there are other National Wildlife Refuges within an hour's drive from you, and they are all managed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. I will include some links to those so you can read about their rules and regulations. Some of them are open with statewide seasons, and some offer quota hunts where you send in a postcard and put your name in a hat to be randomly drawn. Good luck with your quest.

Thanks for the info Andy, Ill do some research on those refuges, looks like a good option for a public hunt. Hopefully we get an opportunity to take a shot. Good luck this season.

I apologize. For some reason I thought you said turkey quota hunts. The deer quota hunts aren't toward the end of the summer.

It's fine I should have been more specific, I'll make an edit to the original post. Just trying to get out ahead and do some scouting/research.
